Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is a process that the Fergusons use to manage unwanted pests in the apple orchard.
These pests include insects, diseases and weeds. The IPM process targets specific pests by collecting data through the use of weather monitoring stations and specific insect traps. That data is then used to determine whether or not there is a need to take action so that we can provide the very best apples for you.
In the IPM process, the tools used to control pests are much lower in toxicity. Therefore, it is much friendlier to humans, animals and the environment than historical control methods.
The Fergusons have now achieved a level of expertise in IPM and have been recognized as an earth-friendly grower. Our growing practices follow the Eco Apple guidelines.
